VISA SERVICES
We are pleased that you are interested in traveling to the United States and hope that this web site will help make it easier for you to select and apply for the appropriate visa from the U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad. Our Consular District covers the state of Andhra Pradesh. If you are a citizen of India, you need a visa to enter the United States. There are two categories of U.S. visas: Immigrant and Non-immigrant. Immigrant visas are for people who intend to live permanently in the U.S. Non-immigrant visas are for people with permanent residence outside the U.S. but who wish to be in the U.S. on a temporary basis – usually for tourism, business, temporary work, or study. The U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad processes only non-immigrant visas. There is no entitlement to a visa. Instead, U.S. law considers all nonimmigrant visa applicants to be intending immigrants until they can demonstrate otherwise. When an applicant appears for a visa interview, a consular officer will review their application and, based upon the interview and sometimes also on supporting documents, make a determination as to whether to approve a visa application. A visa does not automatically permit entry to the U.S. A visa simply indicates that you are eligible to apply for entry to the country for a specific purpose. Please click here to see the various types of non-immigrant visas.A visa allows you to travel to the United States as far as the port of entry (airport or land border crossing). The Immigration Officer will then determine whether to allow you to enter the country and decide how long you can stay for any particular visit.
