U.S. Ambassador Roemer lauds President Obama on Nobel Prize
October 10, 2009
Hyderabad--“I would like to congratulate President Obama on winning the Nobel Peace Prize for his ongoing efforts to give our world hope for a better tomorrow and for his bold fight for universal nuclear disarmament,” Ambassador Timothy J. Roemer said. “The President has been acknowledged for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples all over the world. As I travel throughout India's cities, villages, and rural communities, I meet people every day who respond very directly to President Obama's message of change and hope. We see this change taking shape throughout India, and through the broadening and deepening ties shared by our two countries. These strong and growing ties are reflected in the warm relationship between Prime Minister Singh and President Obama, and between the peoples of our two great nations. President Obama is a promise of the human spirit’s bold potential. The President has fondly recounted the depth of inspiration he draws from leaders who have made our two great countries what they are today, such as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi, who represent the power to foster change through ethics and morality.”
