Photo Requirements for U.S. Passports
The photograph must be a color photo taken within the last six months. The photograph must be a full face, front view with eyes open, facing the camera; no side or angled views are acceptable.
The photograph should measure 2 inches square (roughly 50mm) with the head centered in the frame (see figure below). The head (measured from the top of the hair to the bottom of the chin) should measure between 1 inch to 1-3/8 inches (25mm and 35mm).
Make sure eye height is between 1-1/8 inches to 1-3/8 inches (28 mm and 35 mm) from bottom of photo.
The photograph must have only a plain white background. Photos with colored, dark or patterned backgrounds will not be accepted. Photos should be printed without borders. Lighting should be such that there are no distracting shadows on the face or background.
For persons wearing spectacles, there must be no reflection around the eyes. Photos with reflections will not be accepted. Head coverings are acceptable only due to religious beliefs and then only when the applicant's face is completely exposed.

TWO identical photographs are required for a full-validity passport issued in the U.S. and FOUR photographs are required for an emergency passport issued for emergency travel at the U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad.
