Medical Assistance

The Consulate General can facilitate assistance for Americans who become physically or mentally ill while traveling or living abroad in the event of a medical emergency. The American Citizen Services Unit can provide assistance in the absence of family members, guardians, and friends in the United States in order to advise them of the medical emergency, and the identification and transmission of private funds when necessary. Additionally, assistance can be provided to return the ill or injured individual to the United States via commercial transportation or air ambulance. The ACS Unit also provides a list of hospitals and physicians.  The Consulate General, however, cannot recommend a particular physician and assumes no responsibility for the quality of service provided.

Ambulance Services

There are two ambulance services available in Andhra Pradesh for emergency medical requirements. Both can be reached by dialing emergency numbers from any phone.

Air Ambulance Services

The U.S. State Department maintains a list of worldwide air ambulance services for U.S. citizens needing medical flights from abroad to the USA. There is also an established hot line for all air ambulance questions – 1-800-863-0312 or 1-941-536-2002.
