Business Information

American firms seeking information on the bona fides of prospective Indian business partners can often obtain credit reports through banks or through commercial reporting agencies. Citibank of New York has branches in Hyderabad, Mumbai (Bombay), Kolkata (Calcutta), Chennai (Madras) and New Delhi. American Express has branches in Hyderabad, New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai as well as representatives in all the major cities in India. Bank of America has branches in Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, and New Delhi.

Attorneys

The U.S. Consulate General cannot represent American citizens in court nor advise them on legal matters.  Instead, you may wish to consult with an attorney in India, who can provide advice on your options and remedies within the Indian legal system. The American Citizen Services Unit has developed a List of Attorneys who practice law in the Hyderabad consular district, which is the state of Andhra Pradesh. The U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad assumes no responsibility for the professional ability or integrity of the persons whose names appear in the list. The order in which the names appear is alphabetical and has no other significance.

The U.S. Department of Commerce office in India, has a number of resources and services to foster American business interests in India.  Among the services available are: access to specialists familiar with your industry, market research, sector analysis, pre-arranged appointments with targeted businesses, and international company profiles.
