Western Union Money Transfer

For transferring money from the USA to India:

1. To transfer money online using credit or debit card
2. To transfer money over the phone:  1-800-CALL-CASH
3. To transfer money from an agent office

For transferring money within India:
All money transfers from within India must be done at a Western Union location; money cannot be sent by phone or online.  To find a location, Go to the Western Union website.

For transferring money from other countries to India:
Go to the Western Union website and pick the sender’s country from the dropdown box in the upper right-hand corner.  Follow directions for that country.

Overseas Citizens Services Fund Transfers – “OCS Trust”

In an emergency an American citizen may also transfer funds via the State Department's Overseas Citizens Services office. The citizen should make a wire transfer payable to the “U.S. Department of State” to:

Citizens Emergency Center,
U.S. Department of State,
c/o Bank of America,
State Department Branch No. 20,
Department of State,
Washington, DC 20520

for:

(recipient's name)
c/o U.S. Consulate General, Hyderabad.

In case of difficulty in effecting transfer please call 202-647-5226 for assistance.

This facility is only to be used in cases of emergency and for small amounts (a few hundred dollars). The person transferring the funds should include an additional US$30 to cover State Department expenses. Otherwise this amount will be deducted before payment is made.
