U.S. Consulate General Adjusts Consular Exchange Rate

October 30, 2009

Hyderabad -- Effective Monday, November 2, 2009, all United States Consular Sections in India will adjust the consular exchange rate from INR 50 to the dollar to INR 48 to the dollar.  This rate change is effective for all rupee-denominated costs of applying for visas and passports.
The new nonimmigrant visa application fee paid at HDFC bank branches prior to the scheduling of visa appointments is INR 6,288 (equivalent to USD 131).  Receipts issued by HDFC Bank prior to November 2, 2009 that reflect a payment of INR 6,500 will remain valid.
