Ambassador Roemer calls on Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister K. Rosaiah
U.S Ambassador to India Timothy J. Roemer, on the second day of his two day visit (October 21 and 22) to Hyderabad, met with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Konijeti Rosaiah at the Secretariat. Ambassador Roemer lauded Andhra Pradesh’s progress in so many areas, particularly information technology, biotechnology, post secondary education, pharmaceuticals and micro finance. He observed that the U.S. and Andhra Pradesh could cooperate in all of these areas. At a press conference later in the day, Ambassador Roemer announced that the US is working with India on a bilateral treaty for direct investment opportunities in infrastructure projects. He also told journalists that he and the CM talked about educational partnerships and exchanged ideas on building community colleges to give young people an education leading to jobs in the local community.
