Hyderabad Consular Section Handling 440 Visa Applicants a Day

Consular services are less painful and more efficient each day at the U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad.   And no long lines either!  From the time applicants arrive at the main gate until the end of the interview takes approximately one hour now.  When the Consulate General opened in March, just 100 visas were processed each day.  Now more than 440 applications are processed each day and consular staff are aiming for 500 applications by the end of the summer.  But it has been hot in Hyderabad and so the consulate general is installing fans in the waiting area and a covered walkway between buildings.  Hyderabad’s summer months are also the time students wishing to study in the U.S. apply for visas.  Already the consulate is receiving more than 60 applications a day, and that number is expected to increase as U.S. colleges and university prepare for a new academic year.  Information about all aspects of the visa process can be found here
