MESSAGE FROM THE CONSUL GENERAL

Dear Fellow Americans,

Since before the October 24, 2008 Flag Raising ceremony at the U.S. Consulate General in Hyderabad, I have had the great privilege of representing the United States in Andhra Pradesh, India as Consul General. If your experience as a visitor or resident has been like mine, I am sure you have found India to be a welcoming and fascinating country.

The Consulate General, along with the Embassy and three other consular posts around India, stand ready to assist Americans in a number of ways. In case of an accident or an emergency, we have resources to help in almost any situation. The Consular Section is also able to help with information on voting in the U.S. if you are overseas during a state or federal election. Should you have any question or concern while traveling throughout India, I am confident that our Consular Section will be able to help.

The U.S. Department of State has no higher priority than the safety of American citizens abroad. I want you to know that I share that priority and will continue to promote this goal in all my work here as Consul General. We will continue to provide announcements, warden messages, and other information relevant to residents and visitors alike on this website. It also contains information on how to register your travel or residence in India, so that you can receive important information by e-mail. The Department of State encourages all Americans traveling or residing abroad to register, to facilitate contacting Americans in times of emergency.

Whether you have moved to India permanently or if you are visiting India for vacation or business purposes, I do hope you enjoy your time here. Our Consular Section’s web pages explain in greater detail how the Consulate General can assist you during your stay here. We are here to help you.

Sincerely,

Cornelis Keur

Consul General
